Check license server status

When the license administrator needs to check the license server status, they can first try to find it through the lmtools.exe by clicking the Perform Status Enquiry button on the Server Status tab. The following example shows that the server has 60 tokens available and is also licensed to grant the tokens for feature 500 (PRO/II) and 501 (Polymers), and none of them is in use.

Check the license server status

In case the lmtools.exe shows some error message upon status checking, it means that there may be a problem with the license server. To further confirm this, the administrator can examine the content of the license server debug log file, ipassi.log. This file may also contain useful debug information if the application has a problem acquiring the license from the license server. To open this file, select the Config Services tab and click View Log…

Path to the license file

Once the file is open, carefully search the content of the log file for error messages. If there is no error message in the log file and it shows available license(s), then the license server should be working. If there is an error message in the log file, try to troubleshoot the issue accordingly based on the error message. If assistance is necessary to solve the problem, have the license file, debug log file, and any other licensing error message ready and contact technical support. Once the examination of the log file is done, click the Close Log button to close the log file.
