Install License File

Once the license file has been requested, the regional license administrator returns a license file for the server, via email. The license file is provided as a .zip file which must first be extracted prior to installation.

Installation of the license file is carried out using the AVEVA License System Console.

The extracted license file must be located within a folder that is accessible by the RMS Server. For example, C:\AVEVA\download.

To launch the AVEVA License System Console, in the Windows Search field, enter aveva license to display the best match.

Select AVEVA License System Console.

A message displays indicating that a license file is not found.

On the AVEVA License System Console window, select Install License File to display the Select License File window.

Navigate to the license file folder and select the license file (.xml) file. For example, C:\AVEVA\download.

Click Open to display the Install AVEVA License File window or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Select License File window.

Note:
ALS uses clock tampering detection mechanisms, changing the system clock may cause the system to fail.

Click Start License File Installation to start the installation of the license file or Close to discard any changes and close the Install AVEVA License File window.

A message window displays, informing you that licensing systems will be stopped and started when the license file is installed.

Click Yes to install the license file or Cancel to cancel the license file installation.

Once the license file installation is complete, the Install AVEVA License File window indicates that the license file has been successfully installed.

Note:
The check and install of the license file is written to a console.log file. This is stored in the default folder C:\Program Files (x86)\AVEVA\AVEVA Licensing System. If there are any issues installing the license file when using the AVEVA License System Console, send the console.log to your regional support center.

Click Close to close the Install AVEVA License File window.

The AVEVA License System Console window indicates the status of the RMS server and the RULES server. The status boxes are updated dynamically.

Note:
If the license file contains a large number of features, the RULES Server may take several minutes to start whilst it is waiting for a response from the RMS server.

The ALS is ready to serve licenses when the status of both servers is UP.
