PI System Connector

Skip the reconciliation and merge only

In general, the Source PI System is the system of record. If you make changes to any AF object included in replication on your destination PI System, the PI System Connector will overwrite these changes to ensure it is consistent with the source PI System, the system of record.

For example, if you add a child element to a replicated element on the destination PI System, the next time the PI System Connector replicates changes, that child element will be removed.

By default, the PI System Connector will include a reconciliation step during replication. This reconciliation step keeps the source AF database objects synchronized with the destination AF database objects. An example of this is with attribute templates that exist under an element template. Suppose a source element template, ET1, has the following attribute templates:

  • Attribute1

  • Attribute2

  • Attribute3

After the replication, the destination will contain an ET1 element template with the same list of attribute templates. If the source is modified such that the attribute template Attribute1 is deleted, then the reconciliation step will remove the Attribute1 on the destination.

Sometimes this behavior is undesirable, so the Merge Only, Skip Reconcile option was added for merging only. If this checkbox is checked, and an attribute template is removed from the source, then the destination will still retain the deleted source attribute template on the destination:

Source:

  • Attribute2

  • Attribute3

Destination:

  • Attribute1

  • Attribute2

  • Attribute3

Here is the list of objects that are removed on the destination during reconciliation, if removed on the source:

  • AF Attributes

  • AF Attribute Templates

  • AF Ports

  • AF Enumeration Values
