PI System Connector

History Recovery instrumentation

  • Last UpdatedAug 28, 2023
  • 2 minute read

The connector provides instrumentation regarding history recovery on the connector administration website under Settings > Advanced Diagnostics. To view the instrumentation data, select Advanced Diagnostics. From the drop-down menu, select History Recovery and then select from the listed databases. The metrics cannot be historized.

Note: The metrics are calculated continuously, but the values are changing and can vary greatly depending on data density and point count. The estimated time is a “best guess” based on completed time periods and remaining time periods.

Parameter

Description

Data Source Name

Format: Name

The name of the data source.

Elapsed Time

Format: d.h:m:s.
(d = days, h = hours, m = minutes, s = seconds)

The total duration for which history recovery has been running.

Points Completed

Format: X of X

The count of points that have completed history recovery compared to the total point count undergoing history recovery.

Pass Completed

Format: X of X this pass (X.X%)

The count of points completed in one data pass of history recovery. This is more granular than points completed as this value will change and reset over time as history recovery runs.

The percentage reflects the progress of a particular pass and resets when a new pass commences.

Pass Count

Format: X passes complete

The total number of data passes completed during the current run of history recovery.

This counter continues to increment over time and only resets upon restart of the PI System Connector.

Average Event Rate

Format: X events/s

The average rate of event data transfer during history recovery, reported as events per second.

Time Span Completed

Format: X.XX of X.XX hours

History recovery progress, reported in hours.

Estimated Time

Format: d.h:m:s.
(d = days, h = hours, m = minutes, s = seconds)

The estimated time until history recovery is completed.

Note: This displays as calculating until the first eight hours of data is collected. As more data is collected, the time will adjust.

Status

Format: [Status] at [Time]

Current status of history recovery and time stamp of the last status change.
