PI System Connector

Network requirements

For efficient operation, PI System Connector must have a low-latency, high-bandwidth connection to the source server. The connection to the PI Connector Relay should have enough bandwidth to export the compressed AF database in under 10 minutes.

This is particularly important to PI System Connector users with large databases.

PI System Connector has this bandwidth requirement because it transports an entire AF database, unlike other connectors that only send messages to the PI Connector Relay.

Note: To test the efficiency of a network, open PI System Explorer, then under the Database tab click Export to file. Zip the file that is created for export and copy the zipped file from the PI System Connector host to the PI Connector Relay host. If it takes more than 10 minutes to complete the transfer of data to the relay, additional network resources are likely required.
