Keeping machines separate vs​. keeping machines together

When configuring VMs, you can specify if they should be kept on the same host or kept on separate hosts.

Planning and management may be simplified if you specify that primary servers are kept together on one host and backup servers are kept together on another host. A simple example of keeping separate and keeping separate is:

  • All primary servers are specified to be kept together.

  • All backup servers are specified to kept together.

  • Backup and primary servers are specified to kept separate.
