For local users, you need to assign a local security policy. For domain user installations, these policies are likely managed by your domain administrator. Accordingly, if you are on a domain, you do not need to make these changes.
-
Start a PowerShell session as an administrator.
-
Type the following:
secpol.msc
The Local Security Policy window opens.
-
Select Security Settings, Account Policies, and then Password Policy.

AVEVA recommends the following guidelines:
-
It is recommended that Account Password Policies are set to align with your organization’s password complexity mandate.
-
It is further recommended that User Account passwords have expiry dates.
With these settings, passwords are required to be reset on a specific frequency.
