Before you can install Historian Agent, be sure that you have sufficient permissions to install the software and downloaded HistorianAgentInstaller.exe from Support > Downloads on the CONNECT portal.
To install Historian Agent:
-
Launch the installer. The AVEVA Historian Agent Installation window opens.

-
Click the checkbox to accept the terms and conditions.
-
The default installation location is C:\Program Files\AVEVA\Historian\Agent. If you need to change the installation location, select Options to go to the Installation summary window, select Browse to choose a new directory, then select OK. Otherwise, skip to the next step.
Important! If you install Historian Agent to a location other than the default folder, you must set the Access Control List (ACL) for the selected location to avoid file tampering or other malicious activity. Refer to Microsoft's recommendations for setting the ACL for your version of Windows.
-
Select Install to install the software. When asked if you want to allow the installer to make changes on your device, click Yes.
-
When the green progress bar is finished, the sentence under the buttons will indicate that Historian Agent has been successfully installed. You can now select Configure to launch the Configurator.

If you are using Insight Publisher
Insight Publisher can not run while installing or upgrading Historian Agent. During installation or upgrade of Historian Agent, a pop-up window instructs you to stop aahSupervisor. When stopped, Insight Publisher replication stops until the Historian Agent Configurator is opened.
Note: Uninstalling and then later reinstalling Historian Agent results in data no longer being replicated to CONNECT data services. The missing data can be backfilled using Historian Agent.
