You can run the Configurator utility immediately after installing Historian Agent or at any time thereafter.
Before running the Configurator, make sure you:
-
Are connected to your Historian Server
-
Have valid CONNECT credentials
-
Have access to CONNECT data services and permissions to publish to a namespace
Launch the Configurator from the installer
Select Configure in the Historian Agent installer to launch the Configurator. When asked to allow this application to make
changes, select Yes.
Launch the Configurator from the Windows taskbar
You are not limited to using the Historian Agent installer to launch the Historian Agent Configurator. You also launch it by typing "Configurator" in the Search field in
the Windows taskbar or open the Start menu and selecting Historian Agent Configurator. When asked to allow this application to make changes, select Yes.
Sign into CONNECT
-
Select Sign In in the top right and enter your CONNECT credentials.

-
Once you have signed in, the Sign In text is replaced by your CONNECT user name. The Configure button appears under the List of requirements, and the Configuration tab appears in the left sidebar.

-
Select Configure button, or select Configuration in the sidebar. The Configuration window opens.

Select a namespace
-
If you need to choose a different store forward folder, select Browse and navigate to the desired folder, then click Select. If you know the path of your folder, you can also type it directly in the text field.
Note: In most cases, you won't need to change this, most users stick with the default store forward folder location. However, if your system uses external drives or specific locations for store forward data, you can enter the location here. -
If you have access to multiple namespaces, the Namespace field shows a drop-down menu. Select the desired namespace from the menu. Once you finish configuration and start publishing, the namespace is locked in and you cannot change it without deleting your configuration and starting over. If you don't have access to multiple namespaces, this field displays your available namespace.
-
Select Next. The Tag picker window opens.

-
The default prefix name is the computer name. By prepending the computer name to each tag, tags with the same name from different historians are replicated to CONNECT data services with unique names. You can specify a custom prefix and suffix for unpublished tags by typing them into the first and second text fields, respectively. The tag name example to the right of the text fields shows you a sample of what the destination name would look like. If you have previously published tags with Historian Agent those tags retain their existing prefixes and suffixes.
Choose tags to publish
-
Click the Select tags button. The Select tags to publish window opens. The Available tags list shows all the tags available. The Selected tags list is empty until you add available tags to the list.

-
Search the Available tags list with the filter above the window:
-
Type the text you want to find in the Search Text field.
-
Choose either Contains or Starts with from the drop-down menu to select where the filter searches for your text.
Select Filter to search using the criteria you entered.
-
-
Check the boxes next to the tags you want to publish. If there are many pages of tags in the Available tags list, you can show more tags per page or select specific pages with the options below the list, and check the boxes next to those tags. You have numerous options for selecting multiple tags:
-
To select all tags: select the checkbox in the title row.
-
To select multiple rows of tags:
-
Press Shift + Up Arrow or press Shift + Down Arrow to select tag rows from the keyboard.
-
Hold Control while clicking rows to select multiple tag rows.
-
Select one row, then hold the Shift key and select another row to select all rows in between the first and last selected row.
-
-
To enable or disable checkboxes of all selected rows: press the space bar.
-
-
After choosing tags, select Add. The tags are added to the Selected tags list.
-
If you wish to remove any tags from the Selected tags column, uncheck them then select Remove.
-
After selecting all the tags you wish to publish, select Save in the bottom left.

-
When the Configurator is finished saving, it returns to the initial configuration screen with both Select Namespace and Pick Tags checked. Select Next in the bottom right corner.
Start publishing
The Home window now reflects the configured parameters and the current publication
status. You can delete the configuration, or start publishing.
Select Start publishing to begin publishing your selected tags to your CONNECT data services namespace.
The AVEVA Historian Agent Configurator reflects that publishing is in progress. The Replication service configuration
status reflects that Historian Agent is replicating to CONNECT data services. The Start Publishing button becomes the
Stop Publishing button.
Show less information
-
If you wish to show less information, select Less. The Account, Namespace, Store Forward Path, and Tag Format parameters are hidden.

Select More to show these parameters again.
Note: If Historian Agent is having issues connecting to CONNECT data services, the Publishing and Replication
service configuration statuses show that the agent is publishing to Storeforward.
