Use of a proxy server can offer many advantages. A proxy sever can help keep your network secure, as well as offer content caching to improve network access, and geo-restriction management if desired.
DMZ Secure Link uses a transparent proxy where an allowlist, maintained by AVEVA, enables connections from an on-premise system to AVEVA CONNECT easily and securely. This solution requires minimal configuration and no extra administration while offering the following advantages:
-
DMZ Secure Link facilitates using AVEVA SaaS solutions in a segmented network architecture without exposing systems to the entire internet.
-
DMZ Secure Link supports compliance and regulatory requirements.
-
DMZ Secure Link can work with additional proxy servers to protect your network infrastructure.
To learn more about how to install and configure the product, see the DMZ Secure Link documentation.
For examples of high level architectural layouts for setting up DMZ Secure Link, see this page in the DMZ Secure Link documentation.
You can configure Historian Agent to use your proxy in the Configurator:
-
Select Settings in the sidebar. The Settings window opens. Then select the Proxy tab.

-
Select the Enable proxy button to activate the proxy server connection.
-
If your proxy is reached via an https connection, select the Enable https button
-
Type the proxy address and the port number of your proxy server in the available text fields.
-
Select Test connection to verify that Historian Agent has a working connection with the proxy server. If the test fails, confirm that you have enabled the proxy server connection and https if required, and that the address is correct. If you continue to have issues, contact your network administrator.
Note: If you are unable to sign in to CONNECT and publish data after configuring your proxy, please restart your system.
