InstrumentTag is only used by PI UFL when the /PS start-up parameter is set and the events are pushed to the PI System through the StoreInPi function when its second attribute filled in. This setting allows for addressing the tags "indirectly", that is, through aliasing. The InstrumentTag attribute defines an alias name, which is matched to the name taken from the input streams, and is forwarded to the tag, which defines it. For further details, see the topic Data storage in PI points.
InstrumentTag length
Depending on the version of the PI API and the Data Archive, this interface supports an InstrumentTag attribute whose length is at most 32 or 1023 characters.
