The interface connects to a specified POP3 or POP3S server as the specified user and periodically downloads emails for processing. Email content is pushed through the logic defined in the.ini file and the processed emails are subsequently deleted from the server.
Emails can be optionally forwarded to a given email address through the specified Simple Mail Transfer Protocol or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol Secure (SMTP or SMTPS) server. POP3 server communication is performed over a TCP/IP connection using TCP port 110. POP3S server communication is performed over the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) on alternate port 995.
Note: The port of both the POP3 and POP3S server is configurable. For more information, see "POP3 settings" in [PLUG-IN] section.
The interface can process the contents of ASCII attachments, which are read by the interface as Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions (MIME) streams. In the MIME stream, the email body and ASCII attachments are treated equally.
