AVEVA™ Work Tasks

ArchestrA Services

Consider a distributed environment where AVEVA Work Tasks is installed in one computer (say node 1) and both ArchestrA Service Bus (ASB) and System Platform IDE are installed in another computer (say, node 2). In this environment, use the ArchestrA Services tab to configure the ArchestrA Events setup so that node 1 can poll event details from node 2. Here node 1 acts as the ASB runtime node and node 2 acts as the ASB solution (or /Domain) node.

However, if AVEVA Work Tasks, ArchestrA Service Bus (ASB), and System Platform IDE installed on the same computer, you do not need to perform these configurations.

In a distributed environment, ArchestrA services with System Platform 2014 and System Platform 2014 P01 is not supported.

Prerequisites

  • In node 2, generate a registration passphrase for the ASB Service Repository node name. You can set the temporary passphrase on ASB Service Repository node using the aaASBRegistrationUtility.exe available in the following path:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ArchestrA\Services

Steps to configure the ArchestrA Services for a distributed environment

  1. Click Configure.

The ASBInstall.exe runs in the background to configure the ASB Install Utility.

Note: After installing AVEVA Work Tasks, the ASB Install Utility is available in the following path:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ArchestrA\Services\ASBInstall.exe

You can run the ASB Install Utility with command line argument as follows:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ArchestrA\Services\ASBInstall.exe install

This is an alternate approach to start the ASB Install Utility, if configuration fails.

  2. Click Launch to connect node 1 and node 2.

The Join ASB Domain dialog box appears.

  3. Enter the Repository node name and Passphrase.

    • Repository node name: Indicates the ASB Service Repository node name. Here, name of node 2.

    • Passphrase: Indicates the registration passphrase generated for the ASB Service Repository node name.

  4. Click Register Node.

  5. Click Start to start the ArchestrA Watchdog Service.

  6. Click Test Connection to verify the connection.

After upgrading to the required version of AVEVA Work Tasks, if Test Connection fails in a distributed environment then you must restart the computer.

  7. If the connection is successful, click OK.

For information about associating a workflow with ArchestrA Event, see the ArchestA Events topic in the User Guide.
