This publication contains comprehensive information about AVEVA Unified Engineering Default Configuration.

The AVEVA Unified Engineering Default Configuration provides significant benefits over traditional approaches, which includes schedule, cost, safety, and sustainability, and it is a result of an extensive effort from AVEVA. Historically, companies have spent months or years attempting to optimally configure their data-centric engineering, design, and capital project execution systems with varying degrees of success. At AVEVA, we want you to be productive on our solutions within days and weeks, rather than months or years.

We have gathered the lessons learned from hundreds of these implementations and identified the patterns that have informed a set of configurations for AVEVA Unified Engineering and Capital Project Execution solutions, which now come-to-market as AVEVA’s Default Configuration. It includes the following:

  • A rich data model that can represent thousands of equipment types, components, and their relationships to each other.

  • Discipline-specific views to the data model that allow engineers and designers to efficiently populate and manage technical data.

  • Configurations that are optimally aligned across products.

  • Templates for traditional engineering deliverables, such as lists and datasheet templates informed by industry standards.

  • Symbol libraries and Catalogues that are mapped to the rich data model.

  • Data Views that fulfill industry formats, such as the following:

    • International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 15926

    • Data Exchange in the Process Industry (DEXPI)

    • Capital Facilities Information Handover Specification (CFIHOS)

  • Data Views that fulfill system-specific formats, such as the following:

    • System Applications and Products (SAP)

    • Maximo

    • Estimating

    • Project Controls

    • Construction Systems and Commissioning Systems

    • Digital twin requirements

  • Project Management-level reporting that leverages the data centric approach to obtain a real-time, granular, objective, and quantitative view of projects.

A company adopting AVEVA's Default Configuration setup can extend and change these default configurations to meet specific company and project requirements. However, AVEVA’s vision is that our default configurations become the standard for how capital projects are engineered, designed, and executed.

The following are the benefits to starting with AVEVA’s default configurations:

  • A rapid start up to get engineering and design teams productive.

  • Assurance that your teams are using a common starting point that becomes the de-facto standard.

  • Commonality and flexibility. You can use all the common parts while still having the option to extend and change where it is required.

  • A standard driver configuration comprehensive of International Deliverable types and Symbols which helps and guides our customer toward a comprehensive integrated digital Multi-Disciplines Engineering Workflow.

The following content includes:

  • A comprehensive description of Project Lifecycle definitions.

  • Detailed content available within the Default Configuration setup with the AVEVA Unified Engineering offering.

  • A detailed overview of typical Engineering Workflows achievable within the Application.

  • A governance section to help customers in managing and administering the Default Configuration setup, ensuring consistency and upgradability whenever a new Release is out.

We invite you to evaluate our view of a best-in-class solution configurations and welcome feedback that will inform how we extend and refine the solution. To engage with us directly and in more depth that this documentation, we recommend our AVEVA Unified Engineering Startup Kit. Please contact your Account Manager for more information.

We hope that you will find this publication useful and that it answers all your queries about the AVEVA Unified Engineering Default Configuration.
