Workflow diagram layouts

The workflow layouts are structured vertically and divided into rows and columns:

  • Top row (red section) — Prerequisite setups with configuration status.

  • Middle row (purple section) — Main workflow steps, which are sequential and flow horizontally.

  • Bottom row (blue section) — Features and functions for each corresponding workflow step.

  • Left sidebar (blue boxes) — Project, design type, and industry classifications for context.

Color key and layout overview

  • Purple section (main workflow steps)

    • This section contains the core workflow steps that are necessary to produce the deliverable.

    • The steps are sequential and focus on tasks such as creating and managing drawings, equipment, pipe connectivity, and other related activities.

  • Red section (prerequisites)

    • This section precedes the main workflow steps and explains any prerequisite setups that need to be completed before proceeding with the main tasks.

    • Color-coded prerequisites:

      • Green — The workflow is fully configured, meaning that you can use all of the necessary elements.

      • Light Green — The workflow is pre-delivered as partially configured for a faster startup.

      • Orange — You must complete the configuration before proceeding.

  • Blue section (features and functions)

    • This section succeeds the workflow steps and highlights the features and functions available at each step in the process.

    • This section provides additional details and guidance on how to use specific capabilities or actions associated with the workflow step.

  • Blue boxes (left side)

These boxes represent the type of project, design work, and industry for which this workflow is applicable:

    • Project phases — The stages of the project, such as Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) or Detailed Design.

    • Type of work — Whether the process is suitable for Owner Operators (OO) or Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firms.

    • Industry type — Industries for which this workflow is relevant.

  • Red highlights in the hierarchy

These highlights represent all of the current gaps that will be addressed in future releases.

The following sections outline a series of workflow examples that are numbered in accordance with the second column in the Industry workflows within AVEVA Solution table.
