Use the Instrument Tag attribute to configure the Alarm/Event source in the OPC AE server. The interface also supports the use of an asterisk (*) on the end of a source or area name.
This character is used as a wildcard character and tells the interface to match all sources that meet the specified criteria up to the asterisk. Note that the wildcard character can only be used on the end of the area or source name.
The DeltaV OPC Alarms and Events Server can organize alarm sources under Areas, Process Cells, and Units. Currently, however, there is not a mechanism to retrieve the Process Cell from the event information sent from the DeltaV OPC Alarms and Events Server. Therefore, do not enter the Process Cell information into the InstrumentTag for an interface point.
For example, if full path to the alarm source in DeltaV is:
AREA_A\PROCESSCELL_B\UNIT_C\ALARM_SOURCE
In the InstrumentTag field, enter:
AREA_A\UNIT_C\ALARM_SOURCE
The same rule applies when using wildcard characters. Additionally, wildcards are not supported at the Process Cell level. If using a wildcard in any of the tag configurations for the interface, the /wc command line parameter must be specified. Refer to the Command-line parameters for more information on the /wc flag.
