Installation directory and file locations

The PI Interface for OPC DA installation directory contains all the files required to configure and run the interface. By default, the PI Interface for OPC DA is installed in the following location: \%PIHOME%\Interfaces\OPCInt\.

The %PIHOME% root directory is an environmental variable under which AVEVA products are installed, and is defined by the PIHOME entry in the pipc.ini configuration file in the %windir% directory. To override the default locations, edit the pipc.ini configuration file.

Note: Restrict the Windows accounts that can create or write files in the %PIHOME% folder and subfolders. For more information about account security and restricting directory and file access, see the PI Universal Interface (UniInt) User Manual.

The OPCEnum tool, which discovers OPC servers, is installed in the \%windir%\system32 directory, except on 64-bit systems, where it is installed in %windir%\sysWOW64. The OPC libraries, provided by the OPC Foundation and installed with the interface, are installed in the same directory as OPCEnum.
