Failover configuration

PI Interface for OPC DA provides two methods for configuring failover, to ensure that data collection continues if either the interface or the OPC server fails:
-
UniInt failover
If one instance of PI Interface for OPC DA fails, another instance can take over data collection.
Note: UniInt failover is a feature common to UniInt-based interfaces. For more information about configuring UniInt failover, see the Introduction to PI Universal Interface.
-
OPC server-level failover
If PI Interface for OPC DA stops receiving data from the currently-connected OPC server, it can switch to another OPC server and resume data collection.
If you are configuring both types of failover, configure failover in the following order:
-
Configure and verify UniInt failover.
-
Disable UniInt failover.
-
Configure and verify OPC server-level failover.
-
Re-enable UniInt failover.
Windows Cluster failover is no longer recommended.
