Installation prerequisites

Before installing and configuring the interface, take the following steps to ensure successful operation.

Confirm that your operating system, vendor hardware, and software support the requirements of the interface. For more information, see Learn about features and operating systems supported by PI Interface for OPC DA.

Use PI System Management Tools (PI SMT) to view the status of your connection to Data Archive.
The system must be connected to a running Data Archive node.

Use PI OPC Client Tool to view the OPC server connection and contents and verify that the system is connected to a running OPC server that is populated with points.

Verify that the time zone for the interface node is set correctly. Time zone settings are discussed in the Configure the OPC DA interface and other sections of this user guide.

Verify that an administrator account is being used to install the interface. For more information about security requirements for the interface, see Security configuration.
