You can export views, transpose functions, and transpose functions tables and save these database objects to an XML or SQL file.

Note: Custom database objects can only be imported if PI SQL Commander Lite is connected to PI OLEDB Enterprise, PI SQL Client OLEDB, or PI SQL Client ODBC.

To export custom database objects:

  1. Connect to PI AF Server using PI OLEDB Enterprise, PI SQL Client OLEDB, or PI SQL Client ODBC and expand the schema in the Object Explorer pane.

  2. Right-click an object in Object Explorer that represents an object type, catalog schema or database, and then click Export Custom Database Objects.

The Custom Database Object Export window opens with the Available Objects to Export section.

  3. Verify that the database objects you want to export are selected. Clear any objects that you do not want export, and then click Next.

The Output Location section is displayed.

  4. Select the format and file location for the output file, and then click Next.

By default, both an XML and SQL file is saved; clear one of the output types to export to just one file type.

The Export section is displayed. It reports details about the export and provides the option to view an exported SQL file in the query editor. By default, the SQL file will not open in the query editor.

  5. Optional: Select Open .sql File to open the export file.

  6. Click Execute to start the export.

The database objects are exported. A green icon indicates that the export was successful. A red icon indicates an error.

  7. If you see an error after the execution is complete, move the cursor over a red icon to view details about the error.

  8. Click Done to close the window.

The results of the SQL file are shown in the query editor.
