Create Maturity Levels

Maturity levels define the lifecycle and approval process that items will go through.

A standard three level approval mechanism of Issued > Approved > Working requires three levels of extracts Issued = Master -> Approved = Level 1 Extract -> Working = Level 2 Extract. Items are created and modified in the Working second level extract. Once they require Approval, they are FLUSHED into the Approved first level extract. Then finally, when they are APPROVED, they are FLUSHED into the Issued Master.

Note:
New Maturity levels cannot be added to a set of levels after interdisciplinary project creation.

To create a set of maturity levels, click Maturity (ENGI) on the Manage tab and click Create. The Maturity window is displayed:

Click New. A row of fields is then added to the window in which default values for the new level are displayed.

Modify the default values as required.

Enter the unique identifier of the new Maturity level in the Name field. The field does not support spaces. They will be automatically removed if entered.

Enter a "user-friendly" descriptive name for the Maturity level in the Display Name field.

In the Code (Required) field enter a unique code for the Maturity level. This will be used in automatically generated team, database and Multiple Database (MDB) names. Cannot contain symbols or spaces. If a Maturity level code is used in team names, it must consist of alphabetic characters only.

Enter a description in the Description field.

Repeat the above procedure until all required maturity levels have been created. For example:

The order of the maturity levels as listed in the window defines the extract hierarchy, with the top level being the Primary (Master) database level. It is possible to create the maturity levels in any order, and then rearrange the levels to the correct order by using the up and down arrows on the right-hand side of the window.

To move a level up and down, select its row and click either the up or down arrow button as required to move it up or down one row.

Note:
The buttons are disabled while a row is being edited.

Once the required maturity levels have been entered, exit the window using the X button.

The Maturity levels are listed in the Maturity window.
