Work Tasks Connector for MES architecture.

A Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) layer integrates the MES middleware with Work Tasks. The MES Connector layer in the MES middleware environment manages the outbound and inbound communication between MES middleware and Work Tasks server.

  • The outbound connection of the MES Connector is configured to connect to the WCF endpoints in the Work Tasks workflow engine (a Windows service). The outbound connection is used to trigger workflow events from the MES middleware. In addition, this connection is used to get workflow repository information from the Work Tasks server.

  • The inbound connection of the MES Connector is configured to connect to the WCF endpoints in the MES middleware (a Windows service). The inbound connection is used to perform MES middleware operations.

Multiple instances of the MES middleware can be connected to the Work Tasks workflow engine, as shown in the following diagram.
