  • 5 minute read
  1. Open the Work Tasks Connector Configuration utility by doing one of the following:

    • On the Start menu, select Workflow Connector Configuration.

    • Run the WorkflowMESConnectorConfigEditor.exe file.

This file is installed during the MES Connector installation. The default folder location for this file is the Workflow folder in the MES application folder.

The Work Tasks Connector Configuration utility Admin & System User Information page appears.

Work Tasks Connector configuration administrator and system user sign in.

  2. In the Workflow Repository Admin User boxes, enter the domain\username and password of a Windows user account that has been added as an MES user with MES admin privileges.

This user account will be given access privileges to the MES content repository via the MES middleware. This user will also be listed as the MES user on the repository user list.

  3. In the MES System User fields, enter the domain\username and password of a Windows user account that has been added as an MES user (using MES Client) with MES admin privileges. If this is a native user account of the MES, then enter the user_id and password for the MES native user.

To use the same user account that is specified for the repository admin user (step 2), select the Use Admin User as System User option.

This user account will be used by MES workflows when making calls to the MES middleware.

  4. Select the Provision MES User for Workflow Repository button.

The Workflow Server and Repository Details page appears.

  5. On the Outbound Connection Info: General tab, enter the information that is required to connect the MES middleware to the Work Tasks server.

Note: Completing the information on the Outbound Connection Info: General tab should be sufficient for typical Work Tasks configurations. However, if advanced Work Tasks configuration has been performed, you might need to complete information on the other tabs of this window. For descriptions of the additional MES Connector configuration settings, see Outbound Connection Info Advanced tab settings, Inbound Connection Info General tab settings, and Inbound Connection Info Advanced tab settings.

    Unique Environment Name

This name is entered automatically. It comprises the MES database name with _MES appended to it.

The name entered here will be used in the Work Tasks workflow to specify the MES system with which the workflow will interact.

    Server Address

Enter the host name of the MES Server node.

Authentication User Domain, Authentication User ID, Authentication User Password

Enter the domain, username, and password of the user account that the MES middleware will use to connect to the Work Tasks repository.

This is the same user account entered in step 2.

    Use Transport Security

Select Use Transport Security to encrypt the channel communication between the MES workflow connector service and its client. When selected, the connector service will look for a certificate on the local machine. If Use Transport Security is selected and a certificate is not found, the MES workflow connector service will not start.

  6. To verify that the entered user account can connect to the Work Tasks server and repository, select the Test Connection button.

If the connection is not successful, make sure that the authentication entries on the page are correct.

  7. If the connection is successful, select the Repository Name that was set up for MES.

A message appears indicating that the repository is about to be modified and to make a backup of it because the changes cannot be reversed. If the repository has just been created, a backup is not necessary.

    User Name, Password

Enter the username and password for accessing the Work Tasks repository.

Note: The domain should not be included with the User Name.

    Inbound Connection Authentication Info:

Enter the domain, username, and password of a Windows user account that has been added as an MES user (using MES Client) with MES admin privileges. This is typically the same MES user account that was entered in step 3.

  10. Select the Authorize & Provision button.

A message appears to confirm the completion of the provisioning.

  11. Select OK to close the message.

A Connect button now appears on the Workflow Server and Repository Details page and the Repository Name list is available.

  12. In the Repository Name list, select the MES content repository.

  13. Select Connect.

A message appears that Work Tasks repository has been provisioned for the MES middleware.

In addition, the following entry gets logged in OCMC Logger:

WCF service started; net.tcp://<MES Server name>:<port>/SkeltaWCFConnector/Connector.

  14. Select OK.

The Manage Workflow Repositories page appears. The repository that was just provisioned for MES appears in the repository grid. A green connection status indicates that the MES workflow connector service is connected to the repository.

  15. Select Close to close the Work Tasks Connector Configuration utility.

The MES Users link should now appear on the Enterprise Console repository list, as shown below.
