AVEVA™ InTouch HMI

Prerequisites for using the Web Client

  • Last UpdatedJun 19, 2026
  • 2 minute read

Whether upgrading from a previous version or performing a clean installation, configure the System Management Server (SMS) in the Configurator before launching the Web Client.

Note: If you customize the website name in the Configurator under AVEVA Web Client Settings, the default Web Client landing page link provided in WebViewEngine does not work.

After upgrading from an older version to System Platform 2026, you must configure the Identity Manager Registration plugin under AVEVA System Platform.

Post-upgrade, the AVEVA System Platform Identity Manager Registration plugin remains in a non configured state. To complete the setup, reconfigure this plugin so that the new https://<servername>/avevaweb site is properly registered with AVEVA Identity Manager (AIM).

Note: If a reverse proxy is configured for the Web Client, ensure that the machine name or FQDN (fully qualified domain name) is configured in the Additional AVEVA web client host alias field.

Required web browsers

The Web Client is supported with the latest versions of the Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge web browsers.

Preparation needed on remote devices

Any remote device where you will be using the Web Client to run InTouch HMI applications must have a security certificate installed.

A remote device is any device that is not part of the same System Platform installation as the platform that hosts the WebViewEngine. This includes:

  • Computers that have System Platform installed but point to a different System Management Server than the one that the platform hosting the WebViewEngine uses. This should occur only if you have two completely separate System Platform installations and want to access the Web Client on one of those installations from a device hosting the other installation.

  • Any device, such as a computer, workstation, tablet, or phone, that does not have System Platform installed.

Depending on procedures and policies at your organization, this security certificate may be installed by the IT department on all eligible remote devices, or users may need to install the certificate themselves before using the Web Client for the first time. For instructions on installing the certificate on a Windows device, see Install a security certificate on Windows.

Note: For more information on security certificates, ensure to check the user documentation applicable to your operating system.
