Read-Only Access

  • Last UpdatedJun 19, 2026
  • 1 minute read

Read-only access is supported only when the AVEVA Web Client is configured to use Windows Authentication as its identity provider.

Note: Read-Only support for External Groups, such as Entra ID and CONNECt are not supported.

To grant a user read-only access:

  • Ensure the user is a member of a Windows security group that has been assigned the Read role in the Role Management plugin. For more information, see Configure AVEVA Web Client Role Management.

  • Have the user sign in to the Web Client using their Windows credentials.

Identify a Read-Only user

After signing in, you can determine whether a user is operating in read-only mode by checking the browser title bar.

  • Standard users will see the normal application title.

  • Read-only users will see [R/O] appended to the end of the title.

Users with read-only access can:

  • View application screens and data.

  • Monitor process values and status information.

  • Navigate between screens.

Users with read-only access cannot:

  • Change values (UDT, UDO, Tags)

  • Acknowledge alarms.
