View names and destination endpoints

When the PI Integrator publishes a view, the view name is used to create the name of the destination point. Each target has its own naming conventions and rules for what is an acceptable name. If a view name contains a character that is not allowed by the target, the PI Integrator either removes the character or replaces it with an underscore character (_).

Targets also have rules about the length of names. If the endpoint name exceeds these limits, the PI Integrator displays a warning or error message.
