System requirements

PI Integrator for Business Analytics requirements

This section describes the system requirements for a PI Integrator for Business Analytics installation and for each of the supported publish targets.

The following are the system requirements for PI Integrator for Business Analytics:

• PI Server 2018 or later

  • PI Asset Framework

  • Data Archive

• PI AF SDK 2024

  Note: PI AF SDK 2024 is included in PI AF Client 2024. PI AF Client 2024 is bundled with PI Integrator for Business Analytics 2020 R2 SP2 Patch 1. To use language and locale features, the Language Packs feature for PI AF Client 2024 must be installed.

• 16GB of memory and two modern CPU cores

  Note: This is sufficient for the minimum one worker node process that is installed. For each additional worker node process on the same machine, add an additional 4GB of memory and two modern CPU cores.

• Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022

  Note: The Microsoft Windows Server must be part of a domain and cannot be installed on a machine that is not joined to a Windows Active Directory. (WORKGROUP-joined machines are not supported for this product's deployment.)

• Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022. Install the Microsoft SQL server on the same domain as the installing user, or on a domain that trusts the installing user's domain. The installing user must be able to authenticate, using Windows authentication, to the backend SQL Server, even if SQL authentication is specified. Do not install the PI Integrator for Business Analytics backend SQL Server on a workgroup or a domain that does not trust the installing user's domain.

  Note: The full version of SQL server is recommended for best performance.

• The Microsoft SQL Server full-text search component is a requirement of PI Integrator for Business Analytics. Full-text search allows PI Integrator Framework service to index and manage large numbers of PI tags, and keeps track of changes to the view shapes. Note that full-text search is an optional component of the SQL Server Database Engine that you can add during the Microsoft SQL Server installation, or later by running SQL Server Setup. Install before upgrading PI Integrator for Business Analytics.

Web browser requirements

Use one of the following web browsers:

• Recent version of Google Chrome

• Recent version of Microsoft Edge

Oracle Database publish target requirements

The Oracle Database publish target requires:

• Oracle Client for Microsoft Tools 19c (64-bit)

PI Integrator for Business Analytics supports the following versions of the Oracle Database:

• Oracle Database 23c Release for Microsoft Windows (x64)

SAP HANA ODBC publish target requirements

SAP HANA ODBC targets require:

• SAP HANA Client

  PI Integrator for Business Analytics has been tested with the following versions of SAP HANA Client:

  • SAP HANA Client Version 2.3.144 Windows x64

• SAP HANA

  The following versions of SAP HANA are supported:

  • SAP HANA Version 2.0 SPS 03

Amazon Web Services targets requirements

Amazon Web Services require current version of the following Amazon Web Services:

• Amazon Kinesis Data Streams

• Amazon Redshift

• Amazon S3

Amazon Redshift ODBC driver

PI Integrator for Business Analytics has been tested with the following versions of the Amazon Redshift ODBC driver:

• Amazon Redshift (x64) ODBC Driver version 1.5.9.1011

Apache Hadoop tested versions

PI Integrator for Business Analytics has been tested with the following software:

• HortonWorks – HDP 3.1.0.0

• Apache Hive – 3.1.0

• HDFS – 3.1.1

  Note: PI Integrator for Business Analytics has not been tested with Apache Hive with CDH (Cloudera).

Apache Kafka tested versions

PI Integrator for Business Analytics has been tested with the following versions of Apache Kafka: 3.9x, 3.8x, 3.7x.

Apache Thrift tested versions

PI Integrator for Business Analytics has been tested with Apache Thrift 0.9.3.0. PI Integrator for Business Analytics will likely work with other versions as well.

Google Cloud requirements

Current version of one or more of the following Google Cloud Platform services:

• Google Cloud Storage

• Google BiqQuery

• Google Cloud Pub/Sub

Microsoft Azure requirements

Current version of one or more of the following Microsoft Azure services:

• Azure Event Hubs

• Azure IoT Hub

• Azure SQL Database

• Azure Dedicated SQL Pool

• Azure Data Lake Storage Gen 2

Schema Registry tested version

PI Integrator for Business Analytics has been tested with Confluent Schema Registry 4.0.0. PI Integrator for Business Analytics will likely work with other versions as well.
