Install the Connector

The AVEVA Historian Plant SCADA Connector installation requires administrative privileges. After installation, a reboot is required for the software to run correctly.

Installing the Connector

  1. Right-click PlantSCADAConnector.exe and select Run as administrator.

    The setup dialog displays.

  2. If you want to customize the installation location, select Options. The Setup Options dialog displays.

    The current Install location is displayed.

    To install in a different folder, type a new Install location, or select Browse and choose a folder with the Browse For Folder dialog.

    Select OK to use the displayed folder, or Cancel to undo any changes and use the original folder.

  3. Select Install.

    The Setup Progress dialog shows the progress of the installation.

  4. When the installation is complete the Configurator dialog displays.

    The System Management Server enables you to configure secure connections from the Connector to the Plant SCADA and Historian systems.

    1. If you have already configured a System Management Server, select Connect to an existing System Management Server.

      Select the server name from the list, or type the server name into the text field.

    2. If you want to install the System Management server on this node, select This machine is the System Management Server.

    3. To use insecure connections, select No System Management Server configured. This option is not recommended, and should only be used for testing.

      Note: For more information about configuring the System Management server, please refer to the AVEVA System Platform installation guide.

  5. Select Configure to apply your System Management Server settings.

  6. When configuration completes, select Close to exit the Configurator.

  7. The installation is complete, and the Installation Successful dialog displays.

    The system must be restarted before you can use the Connector.

    Select Restart to restart the system immediately, or Close to restart the system later.

  8. When the system is restarted after installing the Connector, the Installation Successful dialog displays one more time.

    Select Launch to configure the Connector now, or Close to configure it later.
