Part-Persistent Local Storage

The table below explains the D:\ part-persistent local storage systems in AVEVA™ Unified Engineering – Browser Access streamed desktops and provides recommendations for storing and persisting your data between sessions. 

Home folder

Application settings folders

Purpose

For storing non-critical user data such as documents, downloads etc.

For user profile, application settings and AVEVA Client Cache Service caches.

Location (s) in Workspaces Applications (formerly Appstream 2.0) session

File Explorer Home Folder menu item

D:\%username%\My Files\Home Folder\
Note. The folder C:\Users\%username%
\My Files\Home Folder\ is a symbolic link to this location on D:\.

User Profiles and App settings are stored in:

  • D:\%username%\NTUSER.DAT file

  • D:\%username%\AppData\

    AVEVA Client Cache Service caches stored in:

  • D:\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Aveva\ClientCacheService\DataCache\

    Important: No data in the following sub-folders is retained between sessions:

  • Contacts

  • Desktop

  • Documents

  • Downloads

  • Links

  • Music

  • My Files (except Home Folder sub-folder)

  • Pictures

  • Saved Games

  • Searches

  • Videos

Size limits

No hard limit (fair usage policy)

  • 10GiB total

  • 2.5GiB for profile & appsettings

  • 7.5GiB for AVEVA Client Cache Service caches.

Storage features

Stored as objects on AWS S3

The Folder and File list catalog is compiled on session launch and displayed in File Explorer.

Files are downloaded from S3 on access and thereafter synchronized during the session and at session end.

Suitable for non-compute-intensive personal files.

Stored as VHD files on AWS S3

VHD (Folders and Files) is mounted to high-speed direct attached local storage on session launch.

Avoid storing personal files here due to storage size limits.
