Step 3​. Import the 3D model

The XR project production process starts with a 3D model that was prepared with a digital content creation (DCC) tool, such as Blender, and exported in FBX format.

This procedure describes how to import a 3D model that was created outside of XR Studio.

Guidelines

  • An important requirement for preparing a model for the XR Connected Worker solution is that the digital asset must have one empty parent object above all the other 3D geometry. Without this data structure, the Augumented Reality (AR) functionality will not work as expected.

  • Any dependent textures must reside in %projectroot%\GameData\Textures\user\Textures.
