AVEVA™ XR Connected Worker Template

Designing Markers

  • Last UpdatedJan 20, 2025
  • 2 minute read

Markers are used to enable Augmented Reality capture of the physical machine position and orientation with respect to the tablet position and orientation in the physical world space.

The XR Connected Worker template includes four markers. You can use these for the Front, Back, Left and Right side of your 3D asset, or reuse 1 marker for each single asset if you are setting up your project for more assets. If you are adding more than four machines to your solution, you will need additional markers. These can be created using your favorite DCC tool.

Tip Dimension is important and larger is better. The recommend size is at least 15cm x 15cm. This is the default size in the project template.

Create markers

  1. Create an 888 x 888 sized image of 150 Pixel/Inch resolution that creates a marker size of 15cm x 15cm.

  2. Use the brosvision site to generate a square image of colored triangles.

    We recommend that the inside triangle images have less white space and more dense triangle.

  3. Add a black border on the outside of the image with an image editing tool.

    We added a QR code at the bottom right of each marker to be used for identifying the machine when using the solution’s Select feature

    Data for QR Code: {"app": "xrforoperations", "v": 1,"c": "aveva", "machine": "sampleAsset"}

    Note Asset Key in QR code must match Asset Key in apm_data.xml

  4. Add a white letter/red background to represent Front, Back, Right, Left with Photoshop or another image editing tool.

  5. Create NFT Markers with either the web site or local PC converter available at this link: https://carnaux.github.io/NFT-Marker-Creator/

    This editor creates NFT markers (or image descriptors) that run on iOS and Android tablets.

New markers will be added to project data area C:\Projects\XR Process\CW project\CW project\data\sampleAsset
