Adapter Configuration Utility

Add a system component

System components contain the data collection and selection settings for your data source. They enable an adapter to collect data from external systems, transform that data as needed, and transmit it to supported destinations.

These components support adapter operation, including source communication, configuration, buffering, security, and reliable data delivery. Together, they provide the infrastructure that allows the adapter to run as designed in a production environment.

Use this section to either create a new component or select an existing component to continue the quick start process.

To add a system component:

  1. On the Select component screen, select Add to display the Add Component window.

  2. Enter the Component Id.

    The component's ID may be any combination of letters and numbers, and should adhere to these guidelines:

    • Cannot contain leading or trailing space

    • Cannot use the following characters:

      ></:?#[]@!

      amp;*"()\\+,;=|`{}

  3. The Component Type has been been preloaded and is tailored to the adapter you are configuring.

    Note: The MQTT adapter features two component types: MQTT Sparkplug B and MQTT. When creating a new system component, this field defaults to MQTT Sparkplug. If required, select the drop-down to change the Component Type to MQTT.

  4. Select Save to add the system component. The newly added component displays in the Component table.

  5. Choose the component from the table, then select Next to set up the adapter's data source.
