Adapter Configuration Utility

Data Filters

Data filters control the scope of data collected by the adapter. Use filters to specify which source items are included in data collection and which items are excluded. Configure filters before starting the adapter to ensure that only the intended data is discovered, read, and sent to the target system.

You can configure an adapter to perform data filtering to save network bandwidth. Every data item in the data selection configuration can be assigned the Id of a data filter. The adapter then filters data for those data items based on the data filter configuration.

Data filters are optional and are not required for normal adapter operation. By default, data selection items are not associated with a data filter.

To configure a data filter:

  1. Select Add to display the Add Item window.

  2. Enter the following required fields:

    • Id - This is the unique identification for the filter.

Note: After creating an Id, you can edit it for all adapters except Azure Event Hubs.

    • Absolute Deadband - Enter the minimum change in value required before the adapter sends an update. Changes smaller than this value are ignored.

      or

    • Percent Change - Specify the minimum percentage difference between the current value and the last sent value. The adapter sends a new value only when the change meets or exceeds this percentage.

  3. Select Save to return to the Data Filters page.

Note: See Optional settings for additional information on defining the remaining data filter parameters.
