Adapter Configuration Utility

General

General, or adapter-wide settings, define global behavior for the adapter, including logging, diagnostics, buffering, performance, security, and other runtime options that apply across the full configuration.

Review adapter-wide settings carefully before completing the configuration because changes to these settings can affect the behavior of the entire adapter.

For example, a logging setting may determine how much diagnostic information is collected across all components, while buffering or performance settings may influence how the adapter handles data during normal operation or temporary connection interruptions.

Available parameters

Use the following parameters to establish consistent default behavior before configuring more specific source, client, or endpoint options.

Parameter

Description

Enable Diagnostics

Enables diagnostic data collection for the adapter. Select the checkbox to collect additional runtime information for troubleshooting.

Metadata Level

Specifies the amount of metadata the adapter sends with data. Higher levels provide more contextual information for downstream systems but can increase data volume and processing requirements.

Select one of the following values:

None
Low
Medium
High

Include Source Properties

(OPC UA, RDMBS, and Structured Data Files only)

Specifies whether source-specific properties are included with the data sent by the adapter. Use this option to provide additional source context for downstream systems, or disable it to reduce metadata volume.

Select Add to choose from the following values:

None, Description, Minimum, Maximum, UoM, Interpolation, All

Health Prefix

The health prefix defines the naming prefix used for adapter health information, helping distinguish health and diagnostic data from regular adapter data.
