This document contains important information about AVEVA BI Gateway 2026. Review this document for Product enhancements and new features, system requirements and compatibility, resolved issues and known issues in this version, and the BI Gateway software documentation.

Expectations and limitations

  • Deprecated features

    • Concurrent licensing for BI Gateway Dashboard Server (Tableau Server OEM) is no longer supported.

    • BI Gateway Analytics Client (Tableau Desktop OEM) is deprecated.

    • AVEVA Insight adapter is deprecated.

    • eDNA adapter is deprecated.

New features and enhancements

  • Upgraded common controls, logging, licensing, installer, and Historian components to the latest version.

  • Upgraded to Angular 20, .NET 10, and .NET Framework 4.8.1.

  • Enhanced Model Builder user experience.

  • Enhanced help documentation with context sensitive PDF help.

  • Browser support: You can now access AVEVA BI Gateway using the Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox browsers.

    To access the AVEVA BI Gateway Model Builder using the Firefox browser, you have to make some changes in the browser settings. For more information, refer to the BI Gateway Installation Guide.

  • BI Gateway now supports Windows Server 2022 and 2025.

  • BI Gateway now supports SQL Server 2022 and 2025.

  • Upgrade support: Possible to upgrade from BI Gateway 2021 and AVEVA BI Gateway 2021 SP1.

  • Improved the installation and configuration experience.

  • AVEVA BI Gateway 2026 CD is now available as a universal package.

  • You can now configure the Business Intelligence services with a Virtual Account.

    Note: Virtual Account is now the default during a fresh installation.

  • You can now configure the Business Intelligence services with a gMSA account.

  • Virtual Account and gMSA support for Historian connections.

  • Extensive validation across:

    • SQL Server adapters

    • PI AF adapters

    • AVEVA Historian adapters

  • Includes all resolved issues and hotfixes delivered since AVEVA BI Gateway 2021 SP1.

  • Security enhancements:

    • Improved security audit logging

    • Event API now supports HTTPS

    • 100% compliance with RADIS scorecard

    • Strengthened content security and added anti-CSRF protection.

  • You can now manually enter a port number in the Data Source configurator.

After installing or upgrading to BI Gateway 2026, when you try to connect to the Operations Control Logger, the following error may appear in rare instances: Unable to connect to Logger on '<MachineName>'

To connect to the Operations Control Logger, perform the following:

  1. Select Start > Edit local users and group.

  2. Select Groups > ArchestrA Web Hosting > Add a user called NT Service\aalogger.

  3. Select Apply and then Ok.

  4. Restart the Operations Control Logger.

    You can now connect to the Operations Control Logger.
