AVEVA™ BI Gateway On-Premises

Starting the BI Gateway Model Builder

AVEVA BI Gateway is used to visually configure information models that are multidimensional data models to represent business logic and relationship between various, unstructured source data items. The explorer view of the BI Gateway Model Builder enables multidimensional data model visualization in a compact, single screen format, depicting all of the many-to-many, dynamic relationships between different types of objects. In the explorer view of the BI Gateway Model Builder, you can view all the objects (Data Sources, Dimensions, and Measures) of a model in a single view, and also the relationships that they share. For example, if you click a data source in the BI Gateway Model, you can see the Linked Dimensions and Measures that are being used for the selected data source. You can also view the dynamics and the linking between objects of the same type. For example, if one of the Dimension is leveraging another Dimension, you can see the linking when you click the Dimensions.

The explorer view also allows you to view the deployment status of the various objects in the Model using the three different pre-defined color codes as displayed in the Legends of the application.

The full model visualization with all the rich context greatly aids in authoring of the Information model and creation of business dashboards showing key performance indicators based on the Models.

The differentiating details of the BI Gateway Model Builder include:

  • A single place to clearly and fully visualize the entire Information model

  • All relationship between objects (many-to-many) fully captured and rendered

  • A single object in context, showing all dependencies within the full model

When you open the AVEVA BI Gateway Model Builder for the first time, the page appears as follows.

The Home page also displays the Fast Action Button (FAB) menu in the right corner. You can use the FAB menu to create a model. Once you create a model, then the BI Gateway Model Builder opens up the page with the Model Explorer view.
