Non-Standard (Shared) Installations of AVEVA Model Simplification

When run, AVEVA Model Simplification uses the Windows Registry to locate the Simplification Engine Components, which are installed to a separate folder. The registry key is created or updated by the AVEVA Model Simplification Installer.

The standard and recommended procedure is to install AVEVA Model Simplification on each workstation where it will be used.

If you do not install AVEVA Model Simplification on each workstation, but have a “shared” installation on a server, you must either:

  • On each workstation set a “Path” variable in a registry key to the path of the folder containing the appropriate “Engine” folder from the installation, for example:

    • For AVEVA Unified Engineering 4.0.0.0 or later AVEVA Unified Engineering Releases compatible with AVEVA Model Simplification 2.2.0.0.

      [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AVEVA Group Limited\AvevaModelSimplification\ModelSimplification.2.2.0.0]

      "Path"="C:\Program Files\AVEVA\ModelSimplification.2.2.0\"

  • Or set an Environment variable to the path required for that version of AVEVA E3D Design, for example:

    • For AVEVA Unified Engineering 4.0.0.0 and above set:

      AVEVA_SIMPLIFICATION_INSTALLATION=C:\Program Files\AVEVA\ModelSimplification.2.2.0\
