AVEVA Integration Service (AIS) provides integration capabilities between AVEVA’s Engineering & Design authoring products such as AVEVA Unified Engineering, AVEVA E3D and AVEVA Engineering, with other AVEVA applications such as ERM as well as 3rd party tools and applications. It consists of two components that work in tandem to provide support for a wide range of integration scenarios:
-
AIS Local Server, executing in the same environment where AVEVA’s authoring tools are being used.
-
AIS CONNECT Service, executing on AVEVA Connect as a Cloud Service, providing support for Cloud based Integration scenarios and connecting to the AIS Local service as needed for such scenarios that require this flow of data.
The service allows the transfer of data represented by objects and attributes, e.g. typically lists and tables of information. This is achieved through API data access and does not involve any file transfer. By providing a unified API for client applications to consume that data, the specifics of each data source are transparent to the consuming application. The client will not have to consider what platform or database type the data comes from as this is all handed by AIS.
The AVEVA client features most often used to consume data through AIS are the Compare & Update tool or the Design/Engineering ERM Integration. These tools can retrieve data through AIS and pass notifications of updated data available to consuming users.
