Understand AIS on CONNECT
With this release of AVEVA Integration Service on CONNECT, you can quickly register a data source in CONNECT and manage data sources.
Understand AIS on CONNECT flow
The following diagram demonstrates the Hybrid integration for Unified Engineering products and products located outside the bundle:

AVEVA CONNECT is a service within CONNECT that enables systems, applications, users, and AIS Local connectors to exchange:
-
Structured data
-
Large datasets
-
Messages
-
Live data pull from Applications like Unified Engineering, SQL Server, ERM and so on via AIS Local.
What is a data source?
A data source represents a logical channel through which producers, consumers, applications, or external systems exchange data within AIS. It acts as the fundamental building block for enabling data flow between integrated systems.
What is a connected data source?
A connected data source is created when a locally installed AIS instance, running on a server, is linked to the AIS CONNECT Service. When connected, it can be configured to integrate with supported applications such as:
-
Unified Engineering (E3D)
-
Engineering Reference Management (ERM)
-
SQL Server
-
Other supported external systems
Connected data sources support live (on-demand) data pull, allowing you to request and retrieve real-time data directly from the underlying application.
What is a PubSub-Only data source?
A PubSub-only data source is a lightweight data channel that can be created directly through the CONNECT portal without requiring a local AIS installation. It supports the Publish/Subscribe (PubSub) model, enabling publishers to push data to the channel and subscribers to download the data.
Note: PubSub-only data sources do not support live (on-demand) data pull. Data can only be published to the channel and subsequently downloaded by subscribers.
Who should subscribe to AIS on CONNECT
AVEVA Integration Service on CONNECT is designed for customers who need to bridge on-premises and cloud-based environments, specifically:
-
On-Premises to SaaS Integration — Customers running AVEVA applications on-premises (e.g., UE on-premises deployments) who need seamless integration with SaaS applications.
-
SaaS to SaaS Integration — Customers accessing AVEVA applications via browser (UE browser access) who require integration between their SaaS environment and other AVEVA SaaS applications.
-
Outbound Third-Party Integration — Customers looking to push data from AVEVA applications to external, third-party SaaS systems using the AIS CONNECT Service as the integration layer.
Subscribe to AIS on CONNECT
The CONNECT Administrator is responsible for subscribing to the AIS on CONNECT. The availability of AIS is limited and requires engagement with AVEVA support or sales.
Note: You cannot self-subscribe to AIS Service on CONNECT. You must contact AVEVA Support or their AVEVA Account Manager to enable the subscription for their account.
