Adding a new project template definition requires that two things are already defined in the system:
-
A system suite
-
A content repository
Define a new project template
-
On the Project Templates page, select + Create project template.
-
Follow the on-screen instructions to define details for your project template, including:
-
Project template information
Name your project template and select a system suite to use with this project template.

-
Node configuration
Set the size of the virtual machine node needed for each application within the system suite.
For some node types (PlantSCADA R2 and System Platform 2023, 2023 R2, and 2023 R2 SP1), you may enable up to two network interfaces (NICs) by selecting Enable multiple NICs. This can be helpful for testing scenarios like System Platform redundancy, Historian replication, DMZ secure link, and other multi-network configurations. To learn more about the Enable multiple NICs feature, see Enable multiple NICs.
If you need more than one node per application, select Add Node to add more.
Edit the node later to change VM memory and CPU size.

-
Launch parameters
Set the content repository and runtime options for each application in the project template's system suite. Options set here don't apply to other project templates that use the same system suite.
The Content Storage URL list shows the content repository location for this project template.

-
Shutdown behavior
Define whether and how automatic shutdown applies to this project template:
-
No automatic shutdown
-
Shutdown after specified interval
Use the slider.
-
Shutdown after specified time
Use the clock control.

-
-
Confirm and complete
Review your settings and set the visibility of your project template to Public or Private by selecting Create Project Template.

-
This feature helps guard against losing credit hours to unattended instances and excessive use.
