To share and use Industrial Graphics, you must configure the necessary access permissions in CONNECT as a CONNECT administrator. If you are not a CONNECT administrator, then an administrator must configure the integration for you or grant you the necessary permissions.
The following sections provide broad guidance on configuring the integration, and some things to consider first.
Before you start, you must have:
A paid CONNECT corporate account with administrative privileges
If you do not have a CONNECT account:
-
Browse to https://connect.aveva.com/ and register an account.
The account you register is considered a personal connect account. It must be migrated to a corporate account.
Reminder: You must be a CONNECT administrator to configure this integration.
-
To migrate your account to a corporate account, contact your distributor or [email protected].
For details on how CONNECT works, see Understand the role of AVEVA Connect.
A paid Insight corporate account with administrative privileges
To use Industrial Graphics in AVEVA Insight when you already have a paid AVEVA Insight solution, check whether your solution is bound to a corporate account.
-
Log into AVEVA Insight.
-
Select
to view your user profile.
If your email address appears in the ACCOUNT section, then you have a personal account.
-
Ask your distributor or [email protected] to convert your account to a corporate account.
A paid AVEVA Integration Studio subscription
If you have a paid AVEVA Integration Studio subscription and are experienced with CONNECT, but have not yet configured AVEVA Insight:
-
Browse to https://insight.connect.aveva.com/ and create an AVEVA Insight solution.
The account you register is considered a personal CONNECT account. It must be migrated to a corporate account.
-
To migrate your account to a corporate account, contact your distributor or [email protected].
If you do not have a paid AVEVA Integration Studio subscription:
-
Contact your AVEVA distributor. Ask to purchase the service and have them to enable the service on your account.
If your organization has purchased the on-premises Developer license or AVEVA Integration Studio, you likely already have this available in your CONNECT account. After an AVEVA distributor has enabled AVEVA Integration Studio, you can subscribe to it from the Services Catalog.
Note: For detailed information on subscribing to AVEVA Insight when you already have an AVEVA Integration Studio subscription, see the Integration Studio help.
Familiarity with your CONNECT administrator
If you are not a CONNECT administrator, then contact your CONNECT administrator and work with them to configure Industrial Graphics. If you don't know who your CONNECT administrator is, then email [email protected].
An understanding of CONNECT
CONNECT (https://connect.aveva.com/) is the common cloud platform on which AVEVA Insight and AVEVA Integration Studio reside. CONNECT helps to organize your applications and projects and it facilitates managing security across applications that work together.
To help you use CONNECT to configure the Industrial Graphics integration, here are some basic features and functionality that make CONNECT unique.
What's a solution?
A solution is the product that AVEVA makes available to customers. AVEVA Insight solutions are reflected as folders in CONNECT. You can enable multiple applications and capabilities in CONNECT on a folder where data is shared with multiple applications; for example, AVEVA Insight, AVEVA BI Gateway, or AVEVA Predictive Analytics.
What are CONNECT folders used for?
Folders in CONNECT are used to partition data, similar to a Windows explorer folder tree. Many AVEVA products use projects to model the same concept. Folders represent your assets, but they can refer to any partition of data.
What about permissions?
AVEVA Insight user permissions are managed directly in AVEVA Insight. As a result, providing access in CONNECT does not give a user access to AVEVA Insight. For information on managing users in AVEVA Insight, see Set up and manage user accounts.
AVEVA Integration Studio user permissions are managed in CONNECT.
