Prerequisites for installing PCS

AVEVA™ Identity Manager is bundled inside the AVEVA Platform Common Services (PCS) Framework.

Server prerequisites

You can install AVEVA™ Identity Manager on any server that has the following software installed.

• Windows Server 2019 or later

• IIS

Additional prerequisites

These prerequisites are required for PCS Framework 8.1.2 installation:

• .NET 4.8 Framework

  This is not included in Windows Server 2019. You will need to download and install manually, if not already installed.

• Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable (x86 and x64)

  You will need to download and install manually, if not already installed.

• .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.x and latest security updates (windowsdesktop-runtime-8.0.x-win-x64.exe)

• ASP.NET Core Runtime 8.0.x for Windows 64-bit and latest security updates (aspnetcore-runtime-8.0.x-win-x64.exe)

• Microsoft Edge WebView2 Installer x86

  This can be found at https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2.

  Select Evergreen Standalone Installer for x86. It is important to select the x86 version.

Data privacy note about Microsoft Edge WebView2

AVEVA Operational Safety Management is bundled with AVEVA PCS 8.1.2. The Platform Common Services (PCS) 8.1.2 software makes use of Microsoft Edge WebView2. AVEVA has not disabled Microsoft Defender SmartScreen as part of use of Microsoft Edge WebView2 in this release.

The Microsoft Defender SmartScreen feature collects and transmits user information to Microsoft, as detailed in Microsoft’s statement on Data and Privacy in WebView2 (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/concepts/data-privacy) and Microsoft Edge Privacy Whitepaper (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/legal/microsoft-edge/privacy).

Customers can disable the Microsoft Defender SmartScreen feature before installing OSM. Instructions for disabling this feature are available in the Microsoft support documentation for Edge (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge).

Notes about .NET runtimes

• You will need to install .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.x and ASP.NET Core Runtime 8.0.x. They are available from Microsoft as separate executables. We recommend that you install any additional security updates that have been released.
