Services

  • Workflow Engine - Workflow Engine is a Microsoft Windows service which processes the workflow actions or activities continuously. The workflow engine always connects to SQL server to pull and push data and uses thread pooling for processing the activities. Based on the system, proper thread pool settings are essential. The default, thread pool settings is 25. Refer thread pool settings <in Admin Guide>. Ensure to provide appropriate thread pool size based on the system configuration. Ensure to monitor CPU usage and Memory usage of the system <less usage of>.

  • Advance Server - Advance server service enables load balancing in AVEVA Work Tasks. In an environment, ensure to disable the feature if the environment is not set for enterprise version.

  • Task Scheduler - This service handles the execution of all tasks that have not taken place as scheduled (escalations). Task Scheduler does not persist any information in memory. All tasks are database persisted and are performed only when due time is reached. The Task Scheduler use a queue to process the tasks in parallel. Due to queuing up of Task, you may not get accurate timeouts with seconds accuracy.

  • Client Service - You can monitor the AVEVA Work Tasks Windows services such as, Client Monitor, Advance Server, Task Scheduler (TS), Workflow Engine (WF Engine), and Communication Service (CS).
