Connections

Create or establish a new connection to OPC UA

The OPC UA External Connection can be created through the OPC UA Connection screen. You can use this screen to create or establish new OPC UA connection in AVEVA Work Tasks which will communicate to the OPC UA installation.

Prerequisites:

Provision a repository to create OPC UA connections.

To create an OPC UA Connection

1. Log on to the Enterprise Console.

2. Access the repository which is provisioned for OPC UA.

3. In the Enterprise Console, click menu icon, click Tools, and then click External Connections.

   The External Connections page appears.

4. On the Action bar, click New, and then New OPC UA Connection.

   The OPC UA Server Connection screen appears.

5. Enter the required details.

   • Title: Unique connection name.

   • Server URL: .OPC UA server URL.

   • Authentication Settings: Select the Authentication Settings required for establishing the connections. The Authentication Settings can be set as Anonymous or User Name.

     • Anonymous - Anonymous tokens are associated with servers which do not require user authentication.

     • User Name/Password tokens are associated with servers with any password based system, such as Windows

   • User ID: User ID.

   • Password: Password.

6. Click Test Connection.

   If successful, click Save to save the connection.
