BPMN End Event with Exception

The End Event with Exception represents the type of event that stops a process flow and generates an exception as the result. It is denoted by the symbol for electric current (indicating hazard) superimposed on the End Event symbol, i.e. the circle with thick outline.

Mapping of Visio BPMN Event to the AVEVA Work Tasks Activity

The End Event with the Exception result attribute is mapped to the Raise Exception Activity, which is represented by a red circle similar to the End Activity superimposed with the symbol for electric current.

The following mapping will be used during the conversion:

  • Only End Events with the Exception result attribute and no outlinks will be mapped to the Raise Exception Activity. It is important that the End Event with Exception have no outlinks to be mapped.

  • On reaching this activity a named exception will be generated, which will have to be caught by the Exception Handler(s) of the workflow.

Validation

Outlinks (links originating from the activity) are not allowed from the Raise Exception Activity.
