Synchronize roles

If you want to map users and roles across multiple Active Directory domains, use the Synchronize Roles option. This option allows cross-domain role mapping between Active Directory providers.

For example, users John and Jim from the TelematicsUS domain and users Mike and Bob from the TelematicsAU domain can be added to the Team HR role in the TelematicsMain domain.

The Synchronize Roles list item is used to map cross-domain provider roles. This option is not available by default in the Enterprise Console menu.

While creating a repository:

  • Select Active Directory as the Resource Provider.

  • Enable the Is Cross Domain Role Provider option.

After these settings are configured, the Synchronize Roles sub-menu becomes available under Enterprise Console > Tools. This menu is visible only to users with administrative privileges.

To synchronize roles:

  1. In the Enterprise console, select the menu icon, select Tools, and then select Synchronize Roles.

    The Synchronize Roles window appears.

  2. In the Search Role text box, enter the role name and select Search.

The available roles will be listed in the Choose Roles section.

  3. Select the role or roles to synchronize.

For example, searching for team lists all roles that contain the word team.

  4. Select Synchronize.

  5. After the synchronization of the selected role(s) is complete, a confirmation message indicating successful synchronization is displayed.
