AVEVA™ Work Tasks

Fetch data from Intelligence datastore

Database activity

You can use the Database activity to fetch data from the AVEVA Work Tasks Intelligence (EMI) datastore. The Database activity is part of the Engine activities and allows a workflow to connect to a database server and retrieve data by executing user-defined queries.

The results of the query are stored in an XML variable. This XML variable follows the schema of the database table columns and contains values based on the executed query.

Before creating a Database activity, you must first create a database connection object that connects to the AVEVA Work Tasks Intelligence datastore.

Scenario

The AVEVA Work Tasks Intelligence datastore contains historical Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) data for the plant. This data can be shared with corporate management, plant management, and engineers to analyze plant performance, quality, and availability.

For example, corporate management can use this data to review weekly production details such as:

  • Total number of products produced

  • Number of defective products

  • Plant operating expenses

To enable this as part of a workflow, create a Database activity to retrieve data from the relevant fact tables and dimension tables in the datastore.
