Using the Load BizRules Database Tool

Load or drop BizRules

This database tool can either load or drop customer business rules from an OSM Database.

Note: This operation requires access to PowerShell execution.

About business rules

Business rules are supplied in zip files that contain a set of packages containing rules and basic configuration.

• Packages of rules

• Basic configuration that comes with install.

After installation, the customer will need to do manual configuration to customize use of business rules for their site usage.

Note: When reinstalling business rules, take care not to lose the customer's unique additional configuration.

Install scenario

On the first install, the Database Tool installs business rule packages and basic configuration. The customer does additional manual configuration.

Reason to load and drop business rules

A reason to load and drop business rules could be because the customer wants additional rules or to load updated rules that have changed.

Some reasons to drop rules:

• Take away all business rules if customer doesn’t want to use business rules anymore.

• Remove a package containing business rules when you want to load a new package.

Loading operation

It is possible to Load without a Drop, but errors may occur and some rules might not load correctly.

If there are errors, you will need to perform the Drop operation before loading business rules, then reapply configuration if it has not been preserved.

Load business rules into OSM database

1. Click Browse (...) to navigate to the folder where the business rules are located.

2. (Optional) Use checkbox to load business rule packages only. This means that basic configuration is not loaded (added/updated).

   

3. Click Load to load the business rules into the OSM Database.

Dropping operation

Important: When rules are dropped, the window itself will retain custom configuration about the rules as long as the window stays open. Once closed, it no longer retains this information. If you load rules using the Load button before closing the window, then custom configuration for rules will be retained. If not, you will need to reapply manual configuration.
