This topic relates to Edit Login Messages.

Editing system messages

This tool gives a system administrator the ability to add a message that will be displayed when a user logs on OSM.

Full version number

Displays full version number of OSM.

Last upgraded

Shows date when OSM database was last upgraded.

Message when login

The field gives an administrator the ability to display a message about system downtime or maintenance.

If this field contains text, then the message will appear when user logs on to the OSM application.

Example

OSM will be undergoing a 24-hour system maintenance on Sunday 5 December, 2021. The OSM application will be shutdown from 12:01am to 11:59pm Sunday 5 December, 2021.

A message like this appears when a user logs on.

Time-limited message when login

Use this message field to display a system message with a specific start time and end time that the message should display.

Note: The Message when login field must be empty when using the Time-limited message when login field. You can use one field or the other, but not both.

If the Time-limited message when login field contains text, then a time-limited message will display when a user logs on to OSM.

When text is entered in this field and focus is moved away from the field, then two new fields named Start and End will be visible.

Use these fields to set start date and end date for display period.

  • Start – Enter date and time message should start displaying.

  • End – Enter date and time that message should stop displaying.

The Start and End dates will be compared against the date/time on the database server running Oracle.

If Start or End fields have no values (no date) then message will not be displayed. OSM Database Tools will not give a warning if a date is missing.
