Configurations for multiple data sources

AVEVA PI System Connector 3 (PSC3) supports multiple data sources with unique settings. However, the Shared Data Source Options are applied to all data source configurations. The connector applies changes to Shared Data Source Options after you restart data collection.

The following fields can be configured in the Shared Data Source Options tab and apply to all data source configurations:

• History Recovery Start Time

• PI Point Discovery Scan Rate (seconds)

Every data source configured for this instance sends data to the destination database configured in the Destination tab for PI System or Broker.

Multiple source to destination element conflicts

Note: PSC3 only supports one destination database/root element path per connector instance

If there is a conflict between any of these items (for instance, if DataBase1 and DataBase2 both have an element A), the system uses the settings for the last item imported to the destination.

If a sub-element exists in the earlier database, its data will not be transmitted to the destination server. You cannot determine the order in which database settings are imported. To avoid data loss at the destination, you must prevent conflicts within the source AF hierarchy.

Tip: We recommend arranging the asset structure of the data source within a single element to ensure there are no conflicts caused by the element structure, as this could lead to data loss. Multiple child elements can share the same name if you place them under a distinct parent name.
